Similac’s IPhone App Could Hurt Breastfeeding Success
As stated in the following article:
“The American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, and La Leche League recommend nursing on demand, not on a schedule.”
I cannot stress this recommendation enough and try to make this loud and clear with both my class clients and my doula clients. It is so important to start your breastfeeding journey with realistic goals and expectations of both yourself and your baby. Unfortunately, schedules and planned feedings does not normally fit with the reality of life with baby. Schedules can often lead to frustration and feelings of sadness for a new parent.
As you can probably guess, I do not think that an IPhone App for scheduling breastfeeding is a good idea. The many reasons are covered very well in the following article.

I am not saying that an App couldn’t help with remembering which breast you started with last time…is there an App for that?
